Nilsson is a technically refined goalie with strong mechanics. His spatial awareness in the crease is excellent, and he makes subtle positional adjustments to maintain good angles and squareness. His stance is stable and controlled, with active, yet composed, hands that remain balanced through movement. While Nilsson isn’t the fastest goalie in his class, he compensates with intelligent positioning. However, this often forces him to play passively and stay deeper in his crease. When he does challenge on rushes, he can be beaten by quicker players due to limited recovery speed. Nilsson’s polished technique will certainly draw NHL interest, but his lack of quickness could raise questions about his long-term projection at higher levels.
